Report of the Whittington Concert in aid of NSPCC April 2010
The concert in aid of the NSPCC in Whittington Parish Church was a sell out. It was in celebration of the 125 year story for the work of the Society’s supporters in the Border lands of Montgomeryshire and Shropshire and we were glad as a choir to be part of it and singing in the wonderful acoustics of that church.
Mrs. Elaine Adams and the committee had also arranged for the Whittington School Singers and the Bwlch y Cibau Trio to join with us, under the Chairman for the evening, Mr.Ieuan Jones
It was lovely to hear that the children who sang a range of adventurous songs under their teacher Mrs. Amanda Ryan were delighted to hear the trio singing “My Grandfather’s Clock”; a favourites of theirs in school. One of the boys said that of their songs, the best was “I have a song to sing” and they certainly proved their enjoyment of singing for us.
Olwen and Tudor sang both solos and a duet and we enjoyed joining with and “loosing the chains” of our conductor Tegwyn as the soloist in “I’se Weary of Waitin’ ”.
