AUGUST 2012    RUSSIA WITH THE WELSH ASSOCIATION OF MALE VOICE CHOIRS.

At the end of August eight of the choir joined with choristers from all over the British Isles, who have that Welsh connection, to form a 120 strong choir, under the baton of Alwyn Humphries, touring Russia and presenting concerts in St Petersburg and Moscow. Both concerts proved to be a great success. We were entertained at the British Consulate in St Petersburg after the concert there and were gratified to learn from the British Consul, who is a Welshman, that we were playing a real part in promoting Wales the Welsh economy. There was a huge amount of bus and train travel but it was all rewarded by the innumerable places (or should that be “palaces” ) to which we were taken and the memorable things that we saw. It was a, long to be remembered, privilege to be part of the Association’s celebration of 150 years of promoting the cause of our Welsh Male Voice Choral singing.
